Shiitake mushrooms are very nutritious. They contain a variety of vitamins and a wide range of amino acid complex proteins. Interestingly, shiitake mushrooms are one of the few foods where vitamin D can be found without artificially added vitamin D. In traditional medicine, they have been used since ancient times to treat various digestive diseases or simply to boost immunity.
Mushrooms can also be consumed for their nutrients with water, juice, herbal drink or smoothie.
Of course, nobody can imagine the famous miso soup without shiitake mushrooms. Firstly, mushrooms have a porous texture, so they absorb a lot of water and get wet. However, adding them to the soup at the end gives it an additional and rich layer of flavour. If you want to give a similar richness to vegetable broth, add dried shiitake mushrooms!
What to do with their mushroom powder? Use as a seasoning by mixing with salt and pepper only. This trio is a perfect match, as the shiitake powder is just a momentary dose of umami flavour! Add a teaspoon or two to tofu, cooked noodles, soups and stick with it – the taste is totally different – rich and bright.
Dosage: The recommended dose is 1-3 grams per day. Adults 1-3 times a day with food or a glass of water.
