Mahelutsern powder
Blue-flowered lucerne is a perennial (up to 10 years old) multiflorous herbaceous plant of the bean family (Fabaceae). Alfalfa improves the soil and is a flavouring, honey and medicinal herb. Flowers from June to September. Grows on hills, tolerates drought. It likes non-acidic soil. Alfalfa absorbs valuable trace elements and minerals from the depths of the soil. The roots of this plant penetrate deeper and feed on microelements not found on the surface. Lucerne is believed to be one of the first edible plants found by mankind. In Arabic, its name means “father of all foods”. It is clear that lucerne was vitally important to people in ancient times. It has been used in traditional medicine, such as in China or Ayurveda, for over 1500 years.
The phenolic compounds and flavonoids in lucerne are excellent antioxidants with the ability to scavenge free radicals. Rich in essential amino acids. – isoflavones have an oestrogen-like effect, which makes lucerne useful for women during menopause.
Use: The alfalfa has a mild flavour and is excellent in porridges, cocktails, sauces, soups and stews. Also good in salads. Lucerne can be made into tea.
The recommended daily dose is 1-2 teaspoons. Mahelutser powder enriches food with biologically valuable substances.
